UNIT 8 (Aiming for Success)


In this unit we saw issues like these:



The first issue that we saw that day in English class the teacher was: S tating preferences with a power point presentation which came in the following examples: 

It's time: 

It's time you did your homework. 

Form: It's time + subject + past tense. 

I'd rather: 

I'd rather you did not smoke in here. 

Form: subject + object + would rather + past tense (+ than ...). 

I'd better: 

I'd better fix that window as soon as I can. 

Then by making a saw paired pratica theme Reported Speech eg 

I want to go out --- She said (that) she wanted to g out. 
I will give it to you soon. --- I said I would give it to me soon. 

Another issue that we saw in class was Reporting verbs in sentences with examples such as: 

She Explained That John was ill and could not eat. 
That I Told us we needed to show identification. 
We Reminded him to mail the letter. 


We also saw use in class and adverbs adjetives: hard and hardly: 

The mattres is too hard. 
She s been working hard all day. 
I hardly know the people in my class. 


Finally we saw some pictures that put the teacher on the computer on various topics of vocabulary from this unit active book:

UNIT 7 (Indulging Yourself)


In this unit we saw issues like these:


At the beginning of class we saw this day theme noncount Count nouns and that the teacher explained to us that Count nouns are words like banana or hotel. They can use a singular or plural form of the verb. And the noncount nouns are words like food, information, or equipment. They use a singular form of the verb. 
For example we saw: 

That's a great hotel! They're great hotels! 
There is not much food left. 
I have not any roasted potatoes. 
There was not much traffic This Morning. 
She has few friends and is quite lonely. 

We also saw through a practice in class into groups of 2 or use the Passive Forms for example we saw: 

I bought a really fantastic party dress on eBay. 
The dog was found three days after it went missing. 
A Picasso painting was bought by a billionaire. 

We also saw with Professor causative forms: have / get (something) we done; examples: 

Form: have (or get) + object + past participle. 

I have my hair dyed every six months eleven. 
I had my bike stolen last week. 
I need to get my homework done. 

In the ultim part of the class we saw a power point preesentacion containing the vocabulary of the unit eg 

Words and phrases acerca excess: 

Extravagant-excessive-a ​​luxury. 

Food and cooking: 

saucepan to an oven-to-plate-to-bitter range. 

Verb phrases about money: 

to bid for something-to get a discount-to get a refund. 

Animals and Animal idioms:

UNIT 6 (Exploring the World)


In this unit we saw issues like these:


At the beginning of class we saw theme Present perfect vs. present perfect continuous with a few examples: 

I've visited several country clubs in South America. 
I've lived here since last January. 
He's been playing tennis for three hours. 
I'v just seen Mariana. 
I've already done the shopping. 

After we saw through a power point presentation theme Direct and Indirect questions with several examples: 

Direct questions: 

Are you going to Danka's party on Saturday? 
Where did she learn to speak such good English? 

Indirect questions: 

Can you tell me where the nearest bank is? 
I'd like to know If This bus goes to Oxford. 

We also saw the teacher in class with the theme of Making Comparisons in which the teacher gave us an active practice in the book are such few sentences: 

Add-er and-est to form the comparatives and superlatives of one-syllable adjetives and adverbs, two-syllable adjetives, and adverbs ending in y. 

I can not play the piano as well as Michael.

UNIT 5 (Looking Back)


In this unit we saw issues like these:

At the beginning of class the teacher taught us about the past routines: used to / would / get used to and of their respective uses within the grammar of English for example we saw in the book the following: 

Use used to talk to past habits and states acerca de que no not happen now. 
and other concepts and examples of these: 

She did not use to be nearly so ambitious. 
When we were little, we would watch cartoons on TV. 
We're geting used to living in a small town in the country, but it's still a little strange. 
She's used to being her own boss. 
After we made a practice of this in the book check in pairs. 

After we saw the theme Expressing degrees of abitur in which we we read several examples in the book enable the teacher eg

She was able to Communicate Effectively one Arabic fter working in Egypt for a year. 


After we saw in class about of although / however / nevertheless with a practice in groups in the classroom with the teacher in which ejemlps saw some of the uses of these words in sentences such as:

UNIT 4 (Taking Risks)


In this unit we saw issues like these: 


In this class we first saw an explanation that gave the Monserrat teacher about how to use the Conditional with if and use the real conditional to talk acerca a possible situation in the future, in addition to knowing their uses aue are the present unreal conditional and past unreal conditional, then we did a practice in class about this theme example: 

if you need help, ask me. 
We are going to get very wet if it rains. 
If i lived in the country, I'd do a lot more walking. 
If someone gave me alot of money, i might take a year off work. 
I'd buy a good dictionary Inglés Inglés-if I were you


Also the teacher explained to us on the Board about Modals of Obligation told us this Use must / must not to talk acerca present and future Obligations strong That comes from an outside authority. After we made a task of commenting and making sentences Modals of Obligation in pairs in class and then we did a practice in the workbook about this topic for example: 

All visitors must sign in. 
You've got to show your ID before They will let you in this club. 
You do not have to come shopping with me if you do not want to. 
You are supposed to wear a tie to work. 

After the teacher taught us as to give emphasis in sentences in English in order to attract the attention of the reading or listening to the message, for example:

At the last moment after the Breaktime class and the teacher saw vocabulary we put a video of a man approaching a Tornado in the U.S., we saw vocabulary Risk / Achivement, Outdoor Activities and Phrasal verbs with out eg 

Risk, Gamblel, Opportunity, At stake, Vast, Chance, Ambition, Big, Dream, and Substantial Hazard. 

Mountain Climbing, Paddle, Summit, Rock Climbing, Camping, Foothold, Whitewater Rafting.

UNIT 3 (Lessons from History)


In this unit we saw issues like these:

The first item we saw in English class was   Simple Past and Past Continuous, Past Perfect, Past Perfect Continuous after we did a practice on the computer about this topic for example:

Simple Past:

I lived in that house when I was young.
He didn't like the movie.

Past Continuous:



was working at 10pm last night.

They were not playing football at 9am this morning.

Past Perfect:


I wasn't hungry. I had just eaten.
They were hungry. They had not eaten for five hours.

Past Perfect Continuous:


John was very tired. He had been running.
I could smell cigarettes. Somebody had been smoking.

Also after we saw through examples using Articles a/an/the/no article for example: Articles a/an/the/no article 

The capital of France is Paris
I have found the book that I lost.
Have you cleaned the car?
I was born in a town.
John had an omelette for lunch.
James Bond ordered adrink.

We also saw this issue Adjectives and adverbs did work in groups to practice examples that leave us active teacher in the book for example:

UNIT 2 (Making a living)


In this unit we saw issues like these:


The first item we saw in English class was      Future forms: will and be going to
after we did a practice on the computer about this topic for example:

---For plans and intentions.
---Plans have not been decided.
---Present continuous.
---For predictions.

Jack's hungry. I'll make her a sandwich.
That's difficult! I'll help you with the problem.

We are going to study French next semester.
Where are you going to stay in France?
She isn't going to take a vacation this year.


Also after we saw through examples using Future continuous and Future perfect for example:

Future Continuous:

will be playing tennis at 10am tomorrow.
They won't be watching TV at 9pm tonight.
What will you be doing at 10pm tonight?
What will you be doing when I arrive?

Future Perfect:

You can call me at work at 8am. I will have arrived at the office by 8.
They will be tired when they arrive. They will not have slept for a long time.
"Mary won't be at home when you arrive."
"Really? Where will she have gone?"


We also saw this issue (Just)in case did work in groups to practice examples that leave us active teacher in the book for example:

"I shall take an umbrella in case it rains."
I shall take a rifle, just in case I get attacked by a polar bear."
The "just" connotes a reduced probability.
